Marie Carolyn Clabaugh, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away
On Monday, May 15, 2017 at 6:46pm at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.
Carolyn was born on April 22, 1929 in Wyandotte, Michigan to William V. DeGalan and Elizabeth M. (Hall) DeGalan. She married Donald Clabaugh on September 22, 1951 and he died on April 1, 1981.
She is survived by two sons: Bill Clabaugh of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Larry (Angie) Clabaugh
of Medina, Ohio, and a daughter Jane (John) Cummings, of Tiffin, Ohio. Carolyn is also survived by seven grandchildren: Rex Clabaugh, Charlie Mull, Rebecca Cummings, Nicholas Cummings,
Nadia Sherman, Chad Rayner and Caleb Rayner, and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Virginia (Larry) Elchert of Burgoon, Ohio also survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Barbara Clabaugh,
and a brother, Robert DeGalan.
Carolyn was a 1947 graduate of Port Clinton high school and received an Associate Degree in Business from Tiffin University. She served as an Administrative Assistant for the
Wyandot County Home Health Agency from 1968 to 1996. Carolyn was active in her community, serving on the Wyandot County Board of Health and as a member of CLC, the Ohio Children’s League, ABC Mother’s Club and the Harpster Travel Club. She supported and was an active participant in the development of the Angeline School. She enjoyed traveling and bicycle riding, participating with GOBA.
Carolyn greatly enjoyed playing cards and was a harness racing fan. She was a member of
Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, formerly serving as a Eucharistic minister.
Funeral services for Carolyn Clabaugh will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 19th at
Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio with Father Nicholas Weibl officiating.
Burial will follow the service at St. Peter’s cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Friday, May 19th,
at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Angeline School, Prayers & Squares
of John Stewart Methodist Church, Wyandot County Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation-–Activities Fund or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice and may be sent to Lucas-Batton 476 S. Sandusky Ave.
