Lorene Vernell Freshour, age 87, of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Vernell was born on September 14, 1928 in Marion, Ohio, to Elmer and Irma (Bibler) Myers, both of whom are deceased. She married Ralph Freshour on November 13, 1949 in Brush Ridge, Ohio and he survives.
She is survived by her children: Stan (Sandy) Freshour of Harpster, Shelly (Jim) Conley of Upper Sandusky, Tracy (Kim) Jones of Cape Coral, Florida. 6 grandchildren: Steve Freshour, Matthew Freshour, Nicole Orians, Angela Conley Jamie Weber and Christy Jones, along with 11 great grandchildren: Laci, Kasen, Kenna, and Steven Jr., Freshour, Brianna, Lillie, Ella Orians, Victoria and Marissa Damron, Josie Weber and Eli Ritter.
Vernell was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Karen Freshour, 2 sisters, Wanda Turney and Janice White.
Vernell was a homemaker and also had retired from the former Wyandot Manor Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky where she worked as the chief cook. Before that she also had worked for the Nursing Home in Harpster, and Millington Plastics.
She was a 1948 graduate of Harpster High School, and a former member of the Harpster Mother’s Club.
For hobbies she enjoyed cooking, baking, spending her winters with Ralph at Cape Coral, Florida, following Cleveland sports teams, especially the Indians. Most of all, Vernell enjoyed family get togethers and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitations for Lorene Vernell Freshour will be held on Friday, May 6, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Graveside services will be held at a later date and will be private.
