William J. Walton, age 87, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 9:46am peacefully at his home.
Bill was born on January 24, 1933 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Emery E. and Mildred V. (Robey) Walton, both of whom are deceased. He married Joyce Whitman on September 13, 1959 and she survives.
He is also survived by his 4 children: Virginia (Kevin) Reddick of Upper Sandusky, Jonathan (Dee) Walton of Upper Sandusky, Frederick Walton of Upper Sandusky, and Stephan (Tara) Walton of Kansas. 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren along with 2 sisters, Ila Mae Osborn of Stockton, California, and Mary Ellen Clinger of Marion.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and 7 brothers: Daniel, David, Franklin, Albert, James Reuben and Charles, and 2 sisters, Clara Belle Sheaffer, and Anna Marie Fox.
He was a 1950 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went to serve our country in the US Army. After the service, Bill came back to Wyandot County to work on the farm.
Bill was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky.
He enjoyed working on the farm, keeping up with the news, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He has for years enjoyed trips to McDonald’s riding his scooter to visit with friends there.
Funeral services for William J. Walton will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Trinity Evangelical UMC with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will be a Smithville Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, September 1, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time on Wednesday at the church.
