Wanda L. Turley

Wanda Turley, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Green, Ohio.

Wanda was born on July 10, 1932, in Julia, WV, to Leonard and Luella (Clemons) Adkins and they preceded her in death. Wanda married Ray Turley on December 20, 1957, and he passed on April 26, 1990. Wanda then married Royal “Roy” Monroe Jr. on September 5, 2005, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2021.

Wanda is survived by her children; Tony (Karen) Turley of Sylvania, and Eva Christine (Mike) Crites of Green, 7 grandchildren: Adeana (Scott) Gray, Brandon (Mackenzie) Crites, Keegan Crites, Kaitlin (Brian) Crites-Lawson, Rebecca (Mark) Grimes, Matthew Turley and Joseph Turley; and 5 great grandchildren.

Wanda is also survived by her brother Tivis “TB” Adkins, sister Freda Adkins, half-brother Everett (Emma) Kidwell, and sister-in-law Dolores Adkins.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis Turley, and 3 brothers: Leonard “LB” Adkins (Ileene), Cecil Adkins, and Robert (Wilma) Adkins.

Wanda grew up in West Virginia and worked as a beautician for 15 years After moving to Upper Sandusky, she worked at Westinghouse/AO Smith for 32 years until her retirement in 1991. She moved to Pawleys Island, SC, for 20 years, where she and Roy met and married. During her retirement Wanda became an avid golfer. Wanda was a great cook and enjoyed hosting friends and family for dinner and card games. She also loved to travel.

Wanda was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and also attended Trinity Evangelical UMC in her later years. Wanda was a member of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild and past Matron of OES Warpole Chapter #336.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Rev. Ken Wessler.

Visitations for Wanda will be held from 3:00 – 4:00 PM on Wednesday, prior to the memorial service.
