Thomas M. Morehart

Thomas M. Morehart Sr., “Tom,” age 84, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10:15pm at his home in Upper Sandusky, surrounded by family.

Tom was born on February 13, 1937 in Findlay, Ohio, to Elnora Eckert-Morehart.  He married Carnetta Powell on August 2, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio, and she survives.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Thomas Jr. (Bitsey) Morehart of Upper Sandusky, and Douglas Morehart of Upper Sandusky,  4 grandchildren, Gretchen (Joey) Pearson, Adam (Jenna) Morehart, Emma (Zach) Morehart, and Aaron Morehart, along with 2 great-grandchildren, Hayden Pearson, and Charlie Cade Morehart.

Tom is also survived by his sister, Freda Browne, of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and 3 brothers, Joseph, Richard, and David Morehart.

Tom retired after 23 years from the Marion Correctional Institute, and before that he had worked for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in California, and then Utah.

He was a member of the Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky, and served his country

in the United States Marine Corps.

Tom enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, golfing, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Funeral services for Thomas M. Morehart Sr. will be private with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating.  Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Christian Center, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH, 43351.
