Steven Cheney Obituary

Steven Ray Cheney, age 73, of Homosassa, Florida, and previously of Carey and Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on February 11, 2021, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida.

 

Steven was born on December 4, 1947, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Chester and Marguerite (Bolyard) Cheney and they preceded him in death.

 

Steve is survived by his two daughters; Beth (Ed) Brown and Tammy Sigero both of Upper Sandusky, three grandchildren; Collin Brown, Stephanie and Sarena Sigero, his brother Roger Cheney, and his sister Judith Lianos.

 

Steven was preceded in death by four brothers; Jim, Larry, Randy and Dennis Cheney.

 

Steven graduated from Upper Sandusky High School – Class of 1965, and went on to attend Toledo University.

 

Steven was a lieutenant with Upper Sandusky Police Department from 1973-1978, was a supervisor at the USPS in Upper Sandusky, and was then the Postmaster in Carey until his retirement.

 

Steven was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for many years before moving to Florida when he retired. Steven Cheney was a 32-year member and past master of Warpole Lodge No. 176 F&AM, past high priest of McCutchen Chapter No. 96 R.A.M., and past illustrious master of Upper Sandusky Council No. 98 R&SM. He also belonged to Marion Commandery #36, Knights Templar. Steve was also a member of the Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club, The Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Post.

 

Steven had a love for his family, antique cars and hotrods, OSU Buckeye football, fishing, gardening, and loved spending time out in the sunshine.

 

A celebration of life gathering for Steven Cheney will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 PM following the celebration of life.

 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Upper Sandusky Parks Department for a Memorial Bench and can be sent to Lucas-Batton at 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
