Sheila Gruenewald Obituary

Sheila Ann Gruenewald, age 65, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away at 5:30 AM on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Bucyrus Community Hospital.

Sheila was born on July 15, 1958, in Wyandot County, Ohio, to W. Ray Cramer and Joyce (Cover) Cramer. She married Daniel Gruenewald on October 3rd of 1980 in Ocean Shores, WA. After traveling the world together for 43 amazing years, they settled in Nevada where Daniel still resides.

Sheila is survived by her son Thomas Christopher Meadows of Nevada, daughter Laura Kelly Gruenewald in Columbus, 2 grandchildren, Daniel Christopher Meadows and Pandora Camellia Ann Meadows. She is also survived by her brothers Eric (Shelly) Cramer, Bob (Dawn) Cramer both of Nevada, her step siblings, Dorthy, Frank, John and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sheila is preceded in death by her father W. Ray Cramer, mother Joyce Funk, step father Frank Funk, step mother Linda Cramer, and brother Jeff Cramer.

Sheila graduated from Nevada Wynford in 1976, and joined the US Navy where she served as an Ocean Systems Technician for 10 years. After her military service, Sheila worked as a volag clerk at the American Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany. She started with INS in 1993 and transitioned into Homeland Security in 2003 as a firearms instructor, until her retirement in 2019.

Sheila was a lifelong member of Order of Eastern Star.

Sheila enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with her husband, reading, baking, traveling, and going shopping. Sheila was a music enthusiast who enjoyed dancing and singing. She participated in the Royal Singers in High School and the church choir. She always decorated her homes for the holidays, and was a hardcore sports aficionado. Cheering hard for the Buckeyes, Bengals, and the Reds. She loved her family dearly and never missed an event or opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.

A funeral service for Sheila Ann Gruenewald will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home and will be officiated by Pastor John Kibler.

Visitations for Sheila will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home. An OES memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Humane Society, or to the Ladies of the Nevada Community Church and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
