Rev. Robert D. Smith

Rev. Robert D. Smith, age 82, of Forest, Ohio, passed away at 2:20 P.M. on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Forest, Ohio.

Robert was born on December 4, 1938, in Marion, Ohio to Leslie and Goldie (Gheen) Smith. Robert was married to Patsy Lee (Swartz) Smith on December 15, 1972 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2014. He then married Doris (Riley) Smith on November 15, 2015 and she survives in Forest, Ohio.

Robert is also survived by of his children: Steve Smith of Dunkirk, Billy (Lesa) Smith of Forest, James (Brenda) Brady of Oceola, Jackie (James) Robinette of Forest, Juanita (Danny) Johnson of Bucyrus, Jeanette Ralph of Fostoria, Jean (Steve) Grasley of Willard, Jeff (Connie) Brady of Forest, Bobbi (Steve) Ramey of Forest, Leslie (Eugene) Foreman of Forest, Angel (Luis) Diaz of Kenton, 39 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Wanda Pollock and Betty Smith, both of Upper Sandusky, and his sister in law Linda Smith of Phoenix, AZ.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children: John Brady and Sandra Amos, 2 grandchildren: Shelby and Daniel, great grandchild Ella Jean, 4 brothers: Charles Smith, Fred Smith, Lester Smith and Dallas Smith, and 2 sisters Mary McCarley and Gladys Smith.

Robert graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 8 years. Robert went on to work as a welder at Marion Power Shovel, Marion Dresser, Difco in Findlay, and worked as a heavy equipment operator in Florida for many years. Robert was an evangelist and preached at The Lighthouse of Prayer in Marion, Mountain of Praise in Delta and many other churches around Ohio.

Robert was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband. He was very giving of his time and would do anything for anyone. Robert attended church at Forest Church of God and would often be seen there volunteering his time at the food pantry or delivering food to people in need. Robert was a bit of a comedian with a unique sense of humor, and was very ornery. He wanted to help people and would keep them laughing while he did it.

A graveside service for Pastor Robert D. Smith will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Oceola Cemetery with Rev. James Robinette officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Upper Sandusky Color Guard following the service.
