Montie L. Ard, age 104, of Bucyrus, and formerly of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 9:48 am in Heartland of Bucyrus.
Montie was born on February 27, 1917, in Jabez, Kentucky, to Webster and Arie (Roberts) Stephens, both of whom are deceased. She married Ethard E. Ard on August 29, 1935, in Monticello, Kentucky, and he passed away on July 3, 2008.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Donald) Cook of Nevada, 5 grandchildren: Kenneth (Sue) Prince of Bucyrus, Susan Barb of Marion, Kathy Prince of Upper Sandusky, Mark(Alesia Lynn Bates Allen) Cramer of Lexington, North Carolina, Monica (Cory) Orewiler of Nevada. 9 great-grandchildren: Adrian (Mallory) Prince, Kendra Prince, Brandi (Joe) King, Barbi Redman, Jason Detwiler, Ashley Detwiler, Anna (Carson) Leibengood, and Amber Cain, along with 3 great-great-grandchildren, Andrew Prince, and Logan, and Caiden Detwiler.
Montie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 daughters, Barbara Prince and Doris Jean Prince, a great-grandson, Seth Leibengood, and her 5 brothers, George, James, Rovis, Calvin and Estil Stephans, and a sister Bessie Roberts.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Rainbow Nursing Home and also at Kimmel Cleaners, both in Upper Sandusky. She was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church.
For hobbies she enjoyed gardening and canning, and she loved taking care of her family.
Funeral services for Montie Ard will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with burial following at Nevada Cemetery.
Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time on Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
