Mona Kempf Obituary

Mona Lou Kempf, age 83, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, in Findlay, Ohio. 

 

Mona Lou was born on May 25, 1938, in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Howard P. and Wanda J. (Moser) Welty.  She married Julian A. “Jay” Kempf on July 25, 1959, and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. 

 

She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Gary Krupp) Pelfrey of Upper Sandusky, and Jennifer (John) Montgomery of Sterling Heights, Michigan.  6 grandchildren, Jacob Pelfrey and Jeremiah Pelfrey of Upper Sandusky, Jill (Matt) Benecke of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Julian (Kasey) Pelfrey of Columbus, Calvin and Luke Montgomery of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and a great grandson, Nolan Benecke.

 

Mona Lou is also survived by her sisters, Kay Sue Cherry, and Marg Cherry of Pandora and a sister in law, Sharla Welty of Pandora.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Howard Welty.

 

Mona Lou graduated from Pandora – Gilboa High School and also the Columbus Business University.  She had worked for various CPA’s in Upper Sandusky, and also at one time for the Reimbursement Division of Oakland County, Michigan.

 

She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, where she was active in the choir and participated with other church ministries.

She also was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority in Upper Sandusky. 

 

Mona Lou lived for her grandchildren, going to their many activities that they participated in, and also taking them on vacation.  She also enjoyed traveling to New York, Boston, Ft. Myers, and many trips to England and Europe. 

 

Funeral services for Mona Lou Kempf will be private and held at the St. Johns Mennonite Church in Pandora, with Dr. Paul Perkins, and Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be sent Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave.  Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
