Martha Saull Obituary

Martha Kathleen Saull of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

Martha was born on February 2, 1929 in Carey, Ohio, to Andrew and Ida (Henige) Fox.  Both of whom are deceased.  She married Robert L. Saull on July 4, 1951 and he passed away on October 11, 1997.

She is survived by her children: Danny (Barb) Saull of Upper Sandusky, Tommy Saull of Upper Sandusky, Deborah Maskey of Sycamore, Jennifer (Randy) Best of Powell, and Robert Saull of Upper Sandusky.

Martha leaves behind five grandchildren: Ruthann Gonzalez of Ft. Myers, Florida, Jeremy Saull of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tyson (Kelle) Saull of Upper Sandusky, Brittany (Cody) Cooper of Bloomville, and Eric (Teylor) Maskey of West Mansfield.

She also is survived by 11 great grandchildren:  Rick, Elizabeth, Julian, and Joshua Gonzalez, Bleac Francis, Xavier, Sailor, Ireland, Ava, Taylor, and Samuel Saull.  Martha also had four step-grandchildren:  Scott (Jewel) Ruttmann, Sydney Ruttmann, Samantha Ruttmann, as well as four great great grandchildren:  Cohen Cooper, Teagan Francis, Georgiana and Brian Gonzalez and four step great great grandchildren:  Caroline (David) Ortiz, Azura Cooper, Elliot Blake, and Schuyler Ruttmann.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  She had also lost a son Jimmy, a daughter-in-law Roseanna Saull; a son-in-law, Charles Maskey, a granddaughter-in-law, April Saull; a step-grandson Dice Lee, and a grandson-in-law Rick Gonzalez as well as three brothers: Merle, Vincent, and Russell Fox, and two sisters, Rosemary Fadley, and Carola Tucker.

Prior to Martha’s graduation from Upper Sandusky High School in 1947, she worked at Isalys Ice Cream Shop.  After graduation from high school she worked at Wood’s Coffee Shop, Walton Grain, and then went on to work 31 years at Westinghouse/AO Smith where she retired in 1988.

She was a long time member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, where she participated in many church activities; she also volunteered at Wyandot Memorial Hospital and attended activities at the Wyandot County Senior Citizens Center.

Martha also enjoyed gardening, fishing locally and at Lake Erie, crocheting, baking, doing ceramics, and following sports, especially the OSU Buckeyes.  She cherished her family and attending their various sporting events.  She enjoyed traveling to that state up North with her husband Bob salmon fishing.  Trips to Canada fishing were also joyous for Martha, but not as much as watching her husband and eldest son Danny play fast pitch softball.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Transfiguration of our Lord Catholic Church officiated by Father Conrad Sutter, OFM Conv. and Deacon Kevin Wintersteller.  Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitations for Martha will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky
