Mark Powell Obituary

Mark Eugene Powell, age 71, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home in Nevada, Ohio.

 

Mark was born on September 24, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio, to Raleigh O. Powell Jr., and Elizabeth Catherine Logsdon and they preceded him in death. He was once married to Gladys Santiago and she survives.

 

Mark is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Seth Marko) Powell and two granddaughters, Josephine Eleanor Marko and Iris Raleigh Marko, all of San Diego, CA. Mark is also survived by his 3 brothers: Karl (Karen) Powell of Upper Sandusky, Tom Powell of Carey, and David Powell of Upper Sandusky, and his 2 sisters Rose Whisler of Dubuque, IA, and Barbara (David) Wolber of Forest.

 

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Anthony Powell, and his sister Catherine Giron.

 

Mark graduated from Liberty Benton High School in 1968 and attended Ohio Northern University for 2 years before joining the United States Air Force where Mark worked as a computer programmer for 16 years and then as a civilian contractor for the Air Force until his retirement. During his retirement, he continued to work on the Powell Family Farm, tending to his garden, and providing his family and friends with fresh produce.

 

Mark always tried to make the world a better place, and he loved his grandchildren dearly and spoke about them frequently.

 

A funeral service for Mark will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 19, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and will be officiated by Rev. Steve Ramsey.

 

Visitations for Mark will be held on Tuesday, January 18, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions for Mark may be made to the Upper Sandusky Community Library and can be sent to Lucas-Batton at 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
