Marilyn Arlene (Parker Grubbs) Austin, age 83, of Upper Sandusky, formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away on Saturday, February 15th at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Upper Sandusky. She was under Hospice care following a brief illness.
Marilyn was born on March 16, 1936 in DeGraff, OH, to the late Paul and Cleo (Strayer) Parker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by first husband Charles T. Grubbs, Sr., and her second husband Jerry Austin who passed away in 2014. Along with her son, Charles T. Grubbs, Jr., and sisters Phyllis Woods and Janet Hoylman.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, sons John Grubbs of Upper Sandusky, Scott Grubbs of Bellefontaine, Dave (Teresa) Grubbs of Dublin, Doug (Tracey) Grubbs of Marysville and daughter Christina (Randy) Garverick of Powell. Grandchildren Justin Grubbs, Air Force, stationed in Japan, Jeff (Lindsey) Grubbs of Grove City, Jeremy Grubbs and Taylor Grubbs of Dublin, Maegen (Tyler) Manns of Bellefontaine, Thomas Garverick and Matthew Garverick of Powell. Great-grandsons Lincoln and Jackson Manns. A sister, Delores (Howard) Whitehead of DeGraff, two former brothers-in-law Rick (Chris) Grubbs of Columbus, and Bob (Elaine) Grubbs of Kenton and Florida survives. In addition, she has many nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
She started working at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine in 1972 where she rose up through the ranks to become a supervisor. She was transferred to Upper Sandusky in 1980, where it became A.O. Smith. She retired in 1998. She had six kids who were all involved in sports activities, so she was always cheering from the sidelines. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed gifting her food to family and friends. She loved to crochet and was an Ohio State Buckeye football fan. She was also very tech savvy and played on her tablet and connected with friends via Facebook.
Although we are sad of her passing, we wish to celebrate her life. Visitation will be held Friday, February 21st, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. A funeral service will follow visitations at 1:00pm on Friday. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
