Kenneth V. Clay, age 90 of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 4:05am at the home of his daughter in Upper Sandusky.
Kenneth was born on June 9, 1930 in Kenton Ohio to Reva (Sorgen) Ober. He married Louella A. Hosack on September 5, 1958 in Lima, Ohio and she passed away on September 25, 2014.
He is survived by a son Kenneth V. "Bud" (Lynn) Clay II of Nevada, 3 daughters, Debra S. Bjorling of Carey, Catherine M. (Jerry) Walter of Upper Sandusky, and Marva L. Morrison of Harpster. 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive along with 2 sisters, Wilda Orewiler of Dexter, Iowa, and Carla Pagan of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Kenneth and his wife also raised a child Connie Patchett of Indian Lake, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Jimmy Lee, and a great granddaughter Alainna along with another child that he raised, Jeff McQuistion.
Kenneth retired after 20 years as a Captain in the United States Army having served during the Korean War. After retirement from the service he worked for Tecumseh in Marion until 1976.
He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and the Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM, and the American Legion Post #225, both in Upper Sandusky. He was also the last of the 1948 class of Marseilles High School.
For hobbies Kenneth enjoyed hunting in his younger years, woodworking, cross-stitch, word search puzzles, vegetable and flower gardening, and was an avid reader.
Funeral services for Kenneth V. Clay will be held at 1:00pm Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will be at Little Sandusky Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.
Visitations will be held on Friday, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
