Karen R. McElroy, age 70, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 3:14pm in Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio.
Karen was born on April 2, 1951 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to George Samuel and Ruthanna (Rizor) Barth, both are deceased. She was married to Vicente Rodriguez Jr, and they later divorced. She later married Bruce McElroy in Dallas, Texas, and he survives.
She is survived by her children: Stephanie (Gary) Book, Christopher (Tiffani) Rodriquez, and Ryan Rodriquez, all of Upper Sandusky; 2 step-sons, Cody (Ashley) McElroy of Denton, Texas, Stephan (Leslie) McElroy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Robert and Joseph Book, Jenna Rodriquez, Matthew (Becca) Turk, Tyler Pritchard, and great grandson, Michael Turk, and her nephew Evan Barth, who has been part of her life since the death of her sister, Debra.
Karen is also survived by her brothers, Ronald Bame of Pierceton, Indiana, Roger (Jane) Bame of Findlay, William (Penny) Barth, Kevin Barth, and Kip (Stacy) Barth, sisters, Kathy Fields, and Pam (Jerry) Lawrence, all of Upper Sandusky. sister in-laws, Joyce Arnold of Canton, Michigan, Danee (Shirley) Barth of Upper Sandusky, sister in law Joyce Arnold of Michigan, along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and an aunt Sharlet Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lawrence Arnold, Christopher Barth, and a sister, Debra Barth, and a sister-in-law, Judy Bame, with whom she shared the same birthday.
Karen retired from Lonzo Roberts Insurance Agency as a sales coordinator. Before that, she had worked for Lawrence Insurance Agency and Westinghouse/AO Smith in Upper Sandusky.
She attended Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky.
Karen enjoyed watching vintage movies and comedies, music, fishing, and watching the antics of her cat, Lola.
She was quick-witted and loved to laugh.
Karen loved and dearly treasured her family. She had a very kind, gentle and loving heart.
Services for Karen R. McElroy will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, June 29, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home
