Joyce Eileen Cox, 84, of Harpster, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Joyce was born December 16, 1937, in Harpster, to the late Dwight and Alice (Park) Cottrell. She married Raymond Zane Cox in the Harpster United Methodist Church October 21, 1957, and he preceded her in death September 23, 2017.

Joyce will be greatly missed by her sons, David Cox, Harpster and Tim (Kate) Cox Upper Sandusky, three granddaughters, Aerial (Adam) Frank, Bowling Green, Allexandra (Naveen) Keerthi, Houston, and Amber (Derek) Lapsins, Fairborn, and four great-grandchildren. Her sisters Lulu Belle Gierhart, Michigan, and Paulette (Bob) McDonald, Nevada, and many nieces and nephews also are left to mourn her.

Her daughter-in-law Jane Cox, and her sister Darlene Schaadt preceded her in death.

Joyce was a homemaker, who for decades worked the election polling places in Harpster, also worked for Bob Maclaren’s egg sorting company in Harpster. She graduated Harpster High School and attended Findlay College.

A dedicated Christian, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the Harpster United Methodist Church, participated in the bell choir, sang in the choir, and led the children’s choir. She was the caretaker for the church for many years and also volunteered her time for church dinners and activities.

A collector of bells and angels, Joyce was known for her amazing baked beans and loved for her selflessness and generosity. She cherished her family and friends, loved her time at the annual UMC conference in Lakeside, Ohio, and was an avid fan of Ohio State football and basketball, and NASCAR racing.
