John D. Pool, age 63, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 8:10am.
John was born on July 9, 1958 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to father, Edwin (Dorothy) Pool, and mother, Shirley McClain. His father Edwin and mother, Shirley are deceased. His step-mother Dorothy Pool survives in Upper Sandusky. He married Jan Swinehart on June 1, 1985 and she survives.
He is survives by 2 sons: Josh Pool and Jamie (Rachel) Pool, both of Upper Sandusky, and 2 grandsons, Lane and Logan Pool. Along with his siblings Curtis Chatfield of Forest; Jesse Chatfield of Bucyrus; Terry Chatfield of Upper Sandusky, Missy (George) Frey of Upper Sandusky; Colleen Clark of Upper Sandusky; Tara (Kurt) Balliet of Sycamore.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and 2 brothers, Donald and Jody Pool.
John had worked for the City of Upper Sandusky for 10 years. Before that he owned and operated, J & J Landscaping, and also drove school bus for Upper Sandusky Schools, and drove truck for Todco Door.
He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities, such as taking care of the church grounds and as a former trustee.
John also had served as a trustee for Mifflin Township.
For hobbies he enjoyed going Amish country, and just going for a ride throughout the countryside. He was very handy, and would see a job through to completion, including the building of his home.
His greatest love was his family, and enjoyed in later years spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services for John Pool will be held at 11:00am Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, with Pastor Betsy Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
