John Booth Obituary

John M. Booth, 77, of Upper Sandusky, died at 11:25am on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in the Emergency Room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky with family by his side.

Born January 5, 1942 in Canton, he was the son of John F. and Joan J. (Eingle) Booth-Schoenberger. He married Carol M. McMullen on September 21, 1973. She survives in Upper Sandusky. He is also survived by three children: Richard (Staci Alford) Booth of Vanlue, Joelyn Woodruff of Upper Sandusky and Jacquelyn (Josh) Firestone of Sycamore; five grandchildren: Mackenzie, Sydney and John Booth, Ellie and Halle Darnell, sister in-law, Pamela Booth-Caldwell of Canton and a step-brother, Robert (Becky) Schoenberger of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Booth and step-father, Reuben J. Schoenberger.

John was a 1960 graduate Upper Sandusky High School and attended Bowling Green State University and Ohio State University. He spent the next 50 years in the clothing industry, including 20 years as owner of Armstrong Clothing in Upper Sandusky. Out of boredom, he went to work as a salesman at Reineke Motors in Upper Sandusky.

He served in the Army National Guard, Tiffin, for six years. He had the “pleasure” of experiencing the riot at Kent State University first hand.

John was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, where he served on various committees. He was life member of the BPOE #83 and member of AMVETS #777 both in Upper Sandusky.

John loved his sports, especially the OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed playing golf.

A memorial service will be at 11:00am on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
