Jean R. Kraus-Vanhorn

Jean R. Kraus-VanHorn, age 97, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Friday December 10, 2021 at 2:30am at the Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.

Jean was born on August 17, 1924 in Upper Sandusky to Morris Sr. and Irene (Balduf) Gillespie, both of whom are deceased.  She was first married to Frederick Kraus on January 29, 1946 and he passed away on June 25, 1966.  She then married Glen VanHorn Sr. on February 24, 1969 and Glen passed away on May 23, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Teri Myers of Upper Sandusky, George (Martha) Kraus of Tiffin, and Joe (Cindy) Kraus of Upper Sandusky, along with 19 grandchildren,  37 great grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren. 

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 3 children, Dick Kraus, Michael Kraus, and Amy Lemmon, a grandson Joshua Kraus, and 3 brothers, Richard, John, and Morris Jr.

She was a life member of the VFW Auxillary #2842, charter and life member of the Amvets Auxillary #777, and the Navy Mothers Club. 

For hobbies Jean enjoyed watching college sports, watching professional bull riding and rodeos, and was an avid reader.

Funeral services for Jean Kraus-VanHorn were private with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery
