Ira “Sleepy” R. Sigler, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 4:46pm at his residence in Upper Sandusky.
Ira was born in Little Sandusky on January 15, 1931 to James Ralph and Ruth A. (Hablitzel) Sigler. He married Doris Porter on October 10, 1953 and she passed away on April 19, 1999.
He is survived by his 4 children: Robert A. (Kiana) Sigler of Schaumburg, Illinois, Victoria (Robert) Lord of Cedar Park, Texas, Kevin R. (Lynn) Sigler of Schaumburg, and Karen S. (Jeff) Linnemann of Schaumburg. 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.
Ira is also survived by 3 sisters, Mary Thibaut of Marion, Donna Shaffer of Upper Sandusky, and Sharon (Delbert) Hamm of Marion, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Lester.
Ira was a 1950 graduate of Harpster High School and went on to serve in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He retired after 24 years as a barber, having cut hair in Western Springs, Illinois.
Ira was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky.
A visitation for Ira “Sleepy” Sigler will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky
