Harry J. “Red” Dillion, age 94, of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Harry was born on December 28, 1926 in Madison County, Ohio to Harry R. and Florence (Holycross) Dillion. He married Peggy J. Beamer on December 1, 1956 and she survives.
He is survived by his 4 children: Sandy (Stan) Freshour of Harpster, Audrey (Roger) Lambert of Harpster, Janey (Curt) Fassler of Marion, and Ted (Melanie) Dillion of Cincinnati. 4 grandchildren; Steve Freshour, Matt Freshour, Amanda Blackburn and Aaron Lambert, and 9 great grandchildren, along with a sister Mary Ethel Davey of Arlington, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James Leo, Harold, Leonard, and sisters, Louise, Imogene, Carrie, Margaret, Patricia, Virginia and Charlotte.
He was a 1947 graduate of Harpster High School, and a veteran of the US Army.
Harry retired in 1990 from Guardian Industries in Upper Sandusky, before that he had worked for Stumbo Construction, Walter Turney Builders, and Claycraft in Upper Sandusky. He was a former member of the Harpster United Methodist Church.
For hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, gardening and canning, visiting his Amish friends in Hardin County, and woodworking. Harry was a collector of many things, and enjoyed the challenge of repairing things. He also enjoyed sports and followed the Buckeyes and the Browns.
Funeral services for Harry J. “Red” Dillion will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating, with burial taking place at Little Sandusky Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
Visitations will be held on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the funeral service the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
