Hal Montgomery Obituary

Hal W. Montgomery, age 80, of Carey, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 7:22am at his home surrounded by loved ones in Carey.

 

Hal was born on September 26, 1941 in Greenup, Kentucky to Lawrence M. and Ethel M. (Kibbey) Montgomery, both of whom are deceased.  He married Joan Wilson on August 25, 1962 and she passed away on March 31, 1994.  He married Marcia Prince on July 1996 and she survives.

 

He is survived by his children, Cherrie Montgomery of Carey, Sally (Charles) Bare of Bend, Oregon, Lora Stevenson of Perrysburg, and Waynerd Montgomery of Redmond, Oregon, and his step children, Misti (Mark) Alspach of Bucyrus, and Donnie Prince of Nevada.  6 grandchildren, Chanda (Jason) Adkins, Joan (Justin) Morgan, Ridge Montgomery, Amaca Stevenson, and 2 step grandchildren, Sydney and Bailey Alspach, along with 6 great grandchildren, Jason Adkins II, Chevea Adkins, and Cora Adkins, Karma Stevenson, Justin Stevenson, and Bradley Dotson.

 

Hal is survived by his siblings, Mattie Newberry of Columbus, James (Marge) Montgomery of Galion, Eula (Dave) Durbin of Benton, Kentucky, Judy Markins of South Shores, Kentucky, Bill (Ramona) Montgomery of South Shores, Watts (Mary Jane) Mongomery of McDermott, Ohio, Robert (Linda) Montgomery of South Webster, Ohio, and Brenda (John) Darnell of Lexington, Kentucky.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joan, a son Bill Wall, and siblings, Alva Sutton, Maxine Potter, Virgil Montgomery, Raymond Montgomery, and Albin “Tom” Montgomery. 

 

Hal retired in 2004 as a machinist with National Lime and Stone in Carey after 36 years.

 

For hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, especially bass and salmon fishing, following OSU football, cutting wood, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Visitations for Hal Montgomery will be held on Tuesday, February 22, from 4pm to 8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.  Also visitations will be held on Thursday, February 24, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shores, Kentucky.

 

The funeral will be held at 11:00am Friday, February 25, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shores, with burial taking place after service in Montgomery Cemetery.

 

Memorials by be made to Hospice of Wyandot Memorial and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH  43351.
