Glenn Gibson Obituary

Glenn E. “Hoot” Gibson, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 9:00pm at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

 

Glenn was born on July 22, 1933 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Herbert and Naamah (Karcher) Gibson.  He was married to Nancy Hayes, and together they had 4 children.  After Nancy’s passing, Glenn married Linda Jacobs, and then he married Jean Jones.

 

He is survived by his 4 children, Diane (Chip) Conley of Carey, Dorraine Gibson of Bucyrus, Duane (Kelly) Gibson of Upper Sandusky, and Dean Gibson of Newark. 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

 

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Nancy, Linda and Jean, a grandson Cory James Hill, and a brother Dwight Gibson.

 

Glenn was a 1951 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve his country in the US Army. 

 

He was a truck driver of which he started at the age of 15.  Through the years, Glenn drove for others, and also started his own company, Gibson Trucking, operating from 1967 until 1984.  

 

Glenn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bucyrus, American Legion Post #225, VFW Post #2842, AMVETS Post #777, and the Moose Lodge #1093, all in Upper Sandusky, and also participated in the Upper Sandusky Midget Football Program as a coach.

 

For hobbies, Glenn enjoyed bowling, cutting wood, gardening, and animals, especially his dogs.

 

Funeral services for Glenn “Hoot” Gibson will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

 

Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, on Tuesday at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home.

 

For those attending the visitation or funeral, the family prefers casual attire.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and  Hospice of Wyandot Memorial, and may be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
