Giles Logsdon Obituary

Giles B. Logsdon, age 81, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Giles was born on August 31, 1940, in Upper Sandusky, to Gerald and Catherine (Rall) Logsdon.  He was married to Carol Fox on April 30, 1960, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

He is survived by his children: Chris (Debbie) Logsdon of Pickerington, Thia (Denny) Roszman of LaRue, Lisa (Daniel) Vaughn of Sycamore, Shawn (Elaine) Logsdon of Grove City, and Susie Logsdon of Tiffin, along with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Giles is also survived by his siblings, Marilyn (Dennis) Barnes, Jenny Barnes, Berny (Brad) Billock, Rosy (Otto) Binau, Teresa (John) Amert, Gerry (Emery) Walton, all whom reside in Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Logsdon, and a sister, Kathleen Logsdon.

Giles was a second-generation farmer and entrepreneur having also many side “hobby” businesses, such as Logsdon Apple Orchard, Logsdon Stoves, and Logsdon Embroidery throughout the years, with his greatest love being farming.

He was a 1958 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. Giles was a lifelong member of the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus #2050, and the BPOE #83, both in Upper Sandusky.

Giles carried on the family tradition of mushroom hunting, and he also enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, fishing in his pond, at Lake Erie, gardening, and reading poetry.

He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, whether it was on his tractor, trimming his apple trees, tending to his grapes, or sitting with Carol watching the sunset; Giles was in his element while surrounded by nature.

A memorial mass for Giles B. Logsdon will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 10, 2021, at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Conrad Sutter OFM Conv, and Deacon Kevin Winterstellar officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
