Gary Richard Coldiron, age 68, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, Ohio.
Gary was born on December 9, 1952 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Eddie and Edna (Rothgeb) Coldiron, both of whom are deceased. He married Corrine “Corky” Larick on December 7, 1985 and she survives.
He is survived by his children, Luke (Sara) Coldiron, of Charleston, South Carolina, Cretia (Aaron) Johnson of Nevada, Jeri (Mike) Zeigler of Bucyrus, Doug (Shanelle) Appleby, and Jon (Cari) Appleby of Bucyrus. 14 grandchildren: Kallista Coldiron, Barrett Coldiron, Alistair Coldiron, Alyssa (Nick) Kalb, Haylee (Levi) Abbott, Dustin (Sami) Zeigler, Hannah Zeigler, Leyton Appleby, Sheldon McClintock, Brielle McClintock, Taylor Appleby, Britton Oberlander, Eli Appleby, and Lilly Appleby, along with 2 great-grandchildren, Nora Kalb, and Evelyn Zeigler.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Jim (Margie) Coldiron of Tiffin, Dorothy Cheney of Upper Sandusky, Barbara (Brad) Walton of Upper Sandusky, Beverly (Donald) Riedel of Frankfort, Illinois, and Virginia (George) Tuttle of Sycamore. Sisters-in-law, Josette (Roger) Johnson of Deerfield, Michigan, Nadine (Rick) Leitzy, and Mari (Gregg) Burris, both of Bucyrus, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary retired after 40 years as a machinist with Midwest Ohio Tool in Upper Sandusky.
He was a 1971 graduate from Mohawk High School and served our country in the Air National Guard, and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bucyrus.
Gary was gifted with an ability to do anything that he set his mind to, whether it was carpentry projects around the house to building furniture for his children. He also built muzzleloaders, firearms, small motors and forged knives from scratch. Gary enjoyed painting with oil and watercolors and shared many of his paintings with family. He also taught his children and grandchildren how to work on cars and fix almost anything.
He will be remembered for his love of his family, and especially for the love of his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
Memorial services for Gary Richard Coldiron will be held at 6:00pm Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Mike Greenler officiating.
Visitations will be held on Saturday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
