Donald L. Willson

Donald L. Willson, age 84, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 3:08 am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Donald was born on October 14, 1939 in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Floyd and Mildred (Goodman) Willson, both of whom are deceased. He married Marilyn Heistand on June 21, 1959, at the Union United Methodist Church, and she survives.

He is survived by a son Jeff (Patricia “Honey”) Willson of Nevada, and their children, Cody (Amanda), Zeb (Lauren), Zane (Madi), and a daughter, Laura (Charlie) Book of Upper Sandusky, and their children, Chase (Brittanie), Myles (Madison). Along with 5 great grandchildren, and a sister, Marlene (Ron) Oiler of Medina.

Don was a 1957 graduate of Nevada High School and went on to work for many years for Wilson Tire Company, then worked as a mechanic for Wyandot Tractor Company for over 30 years. He also co-owned along with his wife, Marilyn, Willson’s Grocery in Upper Sandusky retiring in 2012. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending his winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.

Don served on the board for North Central Coop for 15 years, and was a member of the Classic Green, and many other tractor associations.

He was an avid collector of all things that were John Deere.

Funeral services for Donald L. Willson will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Monday, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home.
