Daniel “Dan” Lee Bogard, age 81, of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio.
Dan was born on August 31,1937 in Sycamore, Ohio to Virgil and Mabel (Sours) Bogard. He married Carolyn McClain on June 24, 1956 and she survives.
He is also survived his four children, Jill Bogard and Lori (Lyle) Weaver of Upper Sandusky, Jeff (Paula) Bogard of Bucyrus, and Todd (Amy) Bogard of Fremont. 7 grandchildren, Miles (Lana) Weaver, Nathan (Angie) Bogard, Jessica (Jay) Schwanger, Collyn (Jacob) Badenhop, Mason Weaver, Travis Bogard, and Maddi Snyder, along with 3 great grandchildren, Nolan, Brecklyn, and Quinn. He is also survived by brothers Bill (Carolyn) Bogard and Jerry (Sylvia) Bogard, and a sister Donna May (Stanley) Roush.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Virgil Bogard Jr., and one sister, Mabel Jean Mossbrugger.
He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1956 lettering four years in Basketball, Baseball and Track. Dan was inducted twice into the Wyandot County Sports Hall of Fame. Once in 2014 with the 1953-54 Sycamore Baseball team and also in 2017 for his personal accomplishments. He retired from the Timken Company in Bucyrus after 40 years of work.
Dan was a member of Nevada United Methodist Church and also attended the former North Salem Lutheran Church in later years. He had also been member of the Masonic Temple of Nevada, Ohio.
For hobbies he enjoyed traveling with his wife Carolyn, watching college basketball and the Cleveland Indians, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and spending time with his family.
A private memorial service and burial will be held at the North Salem Cemetery at a later date.
