Clara Belle Sheaffer, age 100, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 1:22pm at Westbrook Assisted Living & Memory Care, Upper Sandusky.
Clara was born on December 8, 1919 in Smithville, Ohio, to Emery and Mildred (Roby) Walton. She married Hubert Sheaffer on March 16, 1941, and he passed away on January 1, 2006.
She is survived by 3 children: Richard (Connie) Sheaffer of Morral, Mary Ann (Neal) Martin of Howard, and Thomas (Peggy) Sheaffer of Upper Sandusky. 9 grandchildren: Joe (Ellen) Sheaffer, Jennifer Smalley, Jill Renee Sheaffer, Terri Jo (Sherry Lawson) Martin, Cheryl (J.P.) Rich, Patrice Martin, Robert (Jill) Sheaffer, Christine (Christian) Gallardo, and Dorothy (Pete) Gottfried, along with 24 great grandchildren.
Clara also is survived by a brother, William (Joyce) Walton of Upper Sandusky, and 2 sisters, Ila Mae Osborn of Stockton, California, and Mary Ellen Clinger of Marion, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 8 siblings, Daniel, David, Franklin, Albert, Rueben, Charles, James Walton, and Anna Marie Fox.
Clara was a homemaker and worked as the secretary, treasurer, bookkeeper for Hubert Sheaffer Inc., along with driving tractors, and helping with the livestock.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist, where she served in many different capacities. She also was a member with the Harpster Mother’s Club since 1950’s, and also served as a 4H leader for Mary Ann during her youth.
Clara enjoyed knitting, sewing, being outside to tend to her garden and flowers, doing puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Clara Belle Sheaffer will be held at 11:00am Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Trinity Evangelical UMC With Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitations will be held 2 hours before the funeral, 9am to 11am on Friday at the church.
