Betty A. Bursby, age 98, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.
Betty was born on April 9, 1924 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Birt and Nellie (Beamer) Clark, both of whom are deceased. She married William Bursby on December 23, 1944 at the Wyandot Methodist Church, and he passed away on May 22, 2014.
She is survived by three children; Tom (Carolyn) Bursby of Bucyrus, Karen Weir of Crestline, and Mary (Jack) Lust of Marion. 9 grandchildren, Jason (Tina) Bursby, Carmen (Ed) Leffler, Shaun (Kevin) Teynor, Heather (Dan) Weir, Tracey (Mike) Crawford, Robert (Jana) Weir, John Weir, Robb (Michelle) Lust, and Ryan (Dawn) Lust, along with 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by 3 sisters, Wilma Jean Sharrock of Upper Sandusky, Maxine Shifley of Powell, and Joyce Dickey of Findlay, along with a sister in law, Rose Clark of Bellaire, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law, Bob Weir, and brother, Donald Clark, and a sister, Arlene Neuman.
Betty was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Zion High School, and went on to work at General Electric in Bucyrus, and later as a bookkeeper for the former Ken Smith Motors of Bucyrus, Landmark of Monnett, and the Nevada Farmers and Grain of Nevada.
She was a life-long member of the Nevada Lutheran Church, the Sweet Adeline Singing Group, Wyandot Quilting Club, Wyandot Garden Club, and the former Nevada Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
For hobbies, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, singing, square dancing, fishing at Lake Erie, hunting mushrooms, and going to Florida in the winter.
A graveside service for Betty Bursby will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Nevada Cemetery, with Rev. Tim Nilsen officiating.
