Ann Schuster Obituary

Ann M. Schuster, age 87, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 9:13am at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by her family.

 

Ann was born on February 5, 1935, in Kenton, Ohio, to Foster and Opal (Gilliland) Koehler, both of whom are deceased.  She married Henry E. Schuster on July 25, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and he passed away on August 19, 2022.

 

Ann is survived by 5 children, her son, Steve (LuAnn) Schuster of Nevada, their children: Jeran Pollock, Shad Pollock, Divena Smith, Donnie, Eenell, Dawn, and their grandchildren: Briley, Caden, Karsyn, Brinnen, Turner, Lily, Avy, Hudson, Riggins, Aria Houghtland, and Xavier Houghtland, her daughter, Christine Tredway of Columbus, her son, Robin (Tina) Schuster of Upper Sandusky, and their children, Marcus Thiel, Curtis (Carrie) Thiel, grandchildren Zoey, and Olivia,  her son, Jim (Kathy) Schuster of Upper Sandusky, and their children: Nicole Bame, Brittney Soucek, and their grandchildren: Carter, Chase, Charlie, and Joey, her daughter, Sue (Mark) Bartson of Van Buren, and their children: Preston Wise, Lauren (Michael) Krutsinger Wise and Allexis Bartson. Ann is also survived by her dog, Lucky.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Dwight Koehler.

 

Ann was a 1953 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to work at Bond Plastic, later known as Liqui-Box, in Upper Sandusky, retiring after 30 years of service. After retirement, Ann also worked for her son Robin, at Schuster’s Flower Shop.

 

She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was the first lady president to serve on church council.  She also served as the Junior Choir Director, and participated in Vacation Bible School for many years.  She also was the co-founder of the St. Paul October Fest.

 

Ann was a lifetime member, and past Worthy Matron of the Warpole Chapter #366 Order of the Eastern Star.

 

Ann enjoyed participating with the Star Theater, having been involved in many productions.  She also served as a past Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.

 

For hobbies, Ann followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was a great fan of Woody Hayes. She enjoyed taking trips with her dear friend Margie Donaugh. She loved to read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

 

A special thank you to granddaughter Brittney, for the special care and attention she gave Ann during her stay at Riverside.

 

A memorial service for Ann M. Schuster will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Barry Halter, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.

 

Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
