M. Alice Nye, age 95, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:48am at her home.
Alice was born on January 22, 1925 in Upper Sandusky to Thomas M. and Louise (Tschanen) Bowman, both of whom are deceased. She married Edward Nye on December 29, 1956 and in the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and he passed away on April 23, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Faye (Brian) Evans of Firsco, Texas. 2 grandsons, Scott and Mark (Brittany) Evans of Frisco, and 4 great grandchildren, Van, Brisbane, Zane, and Adelaide. Along with her sister Dorothy Pagnard of Upper Sandusky.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Thomas and Robert, and a sister Martha Bowman.
She was a 1943 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to graduate from Oberlin College majoring in Elementary Education, and minoring in music and art, having participated with the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She enjoyed playing the piano and violin. Alice began her teaching career with Cleveland School System having taught first grade for 10 years.
Alice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky.
She and her husband Ed enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and traveling together. Alice also enjoyed painting, drawing, doing needlework and sewing.
Funeral services for Alice Nye will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, March 10, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home and 1hour before service time on Wednesday, from 10:00am to 11:00am.
