William "Bill" W. Bursby, age 90, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home in Nevada.
Bill was born on May 16, 1924 in Cotton Town, Tennessee to Virgil and Belle (Murray) Bursby, both of whom are deceased. He married Betty Ann Clark on December 23, 1944 at the Wyandot Methodist Church in rural Nevada, and she survives.
Bill is also survived by three children; Tom (Carolyn) Bursby of Bucyrus, Karen (Bob) Weir of Bucyrus, and Mary (Jack) Lust of Marion, along with 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Edward and Gardner "Slim" Bursby, and 3 sisters, Myrtle Daniels, Ova Dawes and Emma Bell.
Bill retired from GE Lamp in Bucyrus after 43 years. He was a member of the Nevada Lutheran Church and served for many years as a member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department, until his retirement. He was also a member of the Bucyrus Moose Lodge #669, Wyandot County Coon Hunters Association and the Wyandot County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, where he would always help prepare the barbeque for the youth hunt.
For hobbies, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to the cottage with Betty at Lake Erie, and spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, May 25, at the Nevada Cemetery with the Rev. Chelsea Spencer officiating.
