Bill was born on January 13, 1955, in Upper Sandusky, to Milton "Bud" and Elaine (Uvanni) Chatlain. He was a member of the 1973 graduating Class of Ridgedale High School, where many friends, even to this day, affectionately knew him by "Haney". He married the love of his life, Judy Montgomery on July 3, 1987.
He is survived by his wife and three sons: Jake (Jordanne) Chatlain of Pataskala, Adam (Samantha) Chatlain of Gahanna, and Zach (Mackenzie) Chatlain of Marion, and his grandchildren, Jackson, Kolsen, Palmer and Kylan, along with a brother, Brad (Lisa) Chatlain of Lewisville, Texas, a step- sister Diane (Rod) Moore of Powell, and sister–in-law Linda Chatlain of Bloomville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Dean and Duane Chatlain. After 30 years of work, Bill retired from Pillsbury/General Mills in Martel, OH. After retirement, Bill continued to work locally driving truck, and assisting farmers during harvest. He also served as a "Red Coat" for The Ohio State University Athletics.
He attended Trinity Evangelical Church in Upper Sandusky, was a member of the Golf Club of Bucyrus, the Bucyrus Moose Lodge #669, and served on the board for the Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame.
Bill was an avid golfer, who especially loved playing with his family and friends, with a notable hole- in-one on Hole #3 at the Golf Club of Bucyrus. He spent many years coaching a variety of sports and took great pride in coaching his sons throughout their childhood leagues, always following along and attending every game throughout their athletic careers. Bill was also instrumental in creating the youth Mid-Ohio Basketball League in Crawford and surrounding counties. Above all, he loved spending time and surrounding himself with his family.
