William Roy Hoffman Jr April 14, 1954 - September 14, 2026

The family of William Roy Hoffman Jr of Nevada are saddened to announce his passing on September 14, 2026 at the age of 72. William was born in Bucyrus to the late William Hoffman Sr and Marjorie (Brooks) Hoffman on April 14, 1954. William married Debra (Grady) on February 14, 1981 and celebrated 45 years of marriage this year; and she survives. William is survived by all three of his children: Tolan (Suzanne) Hoffman of Findlay, Chad (Shalynn) Hoffman of Bucyrus, Amanda (Christopher) Garrett of Bucyrus.

After William graduated from Wynford High School in 1973, he worked a few small jobs until he started working as a heavy equipment operator for over 25 years at Glen-Gery Brick until he retired in 2017. William couldn’t stay still for long so he went to work for Gardaworld at Timken in Bucyrus as a security guard in 2018 until his death. William met and befriended some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. William was known as “The Candy Man” at Timken where he would share candy with his co-workers on his nightly rounds to bring a smile to those around him. He truly enjoyed working at Timken and loved those he worked with.

Speaking of love, the grandchildren were at the top of his list. William was blessed with fifteen grandchildren: Camden, Sajan, Eden, Asher, Magdalene, Anna (Oliver), Alexandria, Elisha, Priscilla, Eve, Keziah, Cooper, Millacent and Colin. And one great-grandchild, Nelle. Whether it be watching the grandchildren play their many sports and band, he was there to support them, but first he had to find the popcorn! William also loved fishing with his grandchildren, and would sometimes have a hard time baiting the hooks faster than his grandchildren could catch the fish.

William’s beloved hobby was golfing. Golfing and being in league with his best friends, Mike Miller and Ron Bloomfield were times he truly cherished. Debra learned to play golf to spend more time with him and compete against him. Debra even beat him a few times, which he took in good stride. William also attended Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church in Nevada where learning and fellowship were a joy in his life. William’s fur baby, Sis, was the light of his life.

William was the eldest of seven children and family meant the world to him. William is survived by his siblings: Mike (Judy) Hoffman, Dale (Pam) Hoffman, Brent (Brenda) Hoffman, Gerry (Lisa) Hoffman, Barbara (Hoffman) Griffin, Brian (Rose) Hoffman and brother-in-law Dan Griffin. Nieces/Nephews: Natalie, Rachel (Jason), Elana, Emily (Kristopher), Sara, Elizabeth, Missi, Robert, Kevin, Zachary, Christopher, Daniel (Cara), Andrew (Sharla), Mathew, Timothy (Caitlynn), Thomas (Shelly) and Stephen. Aunts/Uncles: Bonnie (Rob) Waterer, Hazel Dockham, Linda (Paul) Holcomb, Nancy Stock, Norma Hoffman, Virginia Brooks, Bessie Miller, Donna Miller. Great nieces/nephews: Bailey, Bella, Kaitelin, Bristol, Ellie, Sarah, Savannah, Gianna, Keira, Lyncoln, Drayden, Leo, Jerry Jr, Garrett.

Other family members that were important to William and preceded him in death: Jean, Betty, Merna, Genevieve, Shirley, Joann, Pat, Harold, Raymond, Glen, Bob, Chuck, Paul, Sherman, Glenn, Joe, Leslie, Dale, James, and Marion.

A funeral service for William “Bill” Hoffman will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and will be officiated by Pastors Steve Malone and Brian Spangler. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery. The Funeral service will also be streamed on Lucas-Batton Funeral Home’s website and Facebook page.

Visitations will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Buckeye Central Music Boosters in William’s name.

The family would like to thank everyone for the love, attention and care at Riverside Neuroscience, Surgery and ICU. The best care in the world was given at Ohio Health Hospice House in Columbus and for that we are thankful.
