William A. Heffelfinger, age 82, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 11:10pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Bill was born on June 16, 1933 in Sycamore, Ohio, to John and Ruth (Stiefel) Heffelfinger, both of whom are deceased. He married Judy Swartz and she survives in
Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by his children; Richard (Robin) Heffelfinger of Sylvania, Ohio, Cydney (Joel Correll) Mowery of Dunkirk, Ohio, Bill (Tammie) Heffelfinger of Boulder, Montana, Laura (John) Logan of Corbin, Kentucky, and Jessica Heffelfinger of Upper Sandusky. 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Naomi Hoy, and Jane (Ray) Kauble, both of Upper Sandusky, and a brother, Virgil "Butch" (Carol) Heffelfinger of Upper Sandusky, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kevin Heffelfinger, and a daughter, Robin Rumer, and a son in law, Jeffery Mowery.
Bill retired as an Air Frame Repair Tech in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1951 to 1971 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After coming back home to Upper Sandusky, he worked for Millington Plastics, the Chief Dairy, and also for Lincoln Hills Golf Course, all in Upper Sandusky.
He was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, and attended Terra Technical College.
Bill was a member of American Legion Post #225, and a former member of the Eagles Lodge #2184, both in Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies Bill enjoyed building and racing slot cars, and car racing in his younger years. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and the OSU Buckeyes,
and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Funeral services for William A. Heffelfinger will be held at 11:00am, Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, where full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
