Wilbur F. Adams

Wilbur F. Adams, age 86, of Nevada, Ohio died Friday, August 3, 2007 at 7:49pm
in the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Wilbur was born on July 18, 1921 in Nevada, Ohio to Benjamin H. and Ruth Belle (Clark) Adams, both are deceased. He married Camilla S. Painter on October 23, 1942 in the Epworth United Methodist Church in Bucyrus and she died on May 9, 1997.

Surviving is a daughter Janet and her husband Fred, Jacobs of Naperville, Illinois: 2 sons; Norman Adams of Deep Gap, North Carolina and Fred Adams of Lynchburg, Virginia. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Missi Grove, Kory Hemm, Alex Jacobs, Fred Adams, Jessica Adams. And 4 Great Grandchildren; Hannah Grove, Chloe Grove, Lily Hemm and Camille Hemm.

Wilbur is also survived by a brother Bert Adams of Upper Sandusky and 2 sisters, Ruth Groves of Bucyrus and Marie Adams of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his wife Camille, a daughter Bev, grandson Christopher Hemm and 4 brothers, Ithiel, Willard, John and Earl Adams and 2 sisters; Winifred Edgington and Wanda Blakeslee.

Wilbur retired from Swan Rubber in 1986 after 35 years. He was a member of the
Nevada United Methodist Church since 1946. Life member of the Robert Case American Legion Post #462, Nevada, where he served as commander for 4 years. Member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge #343 F&AM, Knights of the Pythias #234 where he was a past Chancelor and served as secretary for many years. He was a former auxiliary member of the State Highway Patrol, Bucyrus Post for over 20 years. Wilbur also served in the United States Army having served during WWII.

Funeral Services for Wilbur F. Adams will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Nevada United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brandon Keck will be officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call Tuesday, August 7, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Nevada. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 8:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
