Wayne B. Traxler, age 87, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.
Wayne was born on July 15, 1924 in Wyandot County to Samuel l. and Eva (Ziegler) Traxler, both of whom are deceased. He married Peggy Boucher on December 13, 1947 and she passed away on May 8, 1991. He then married Rose Jenot on April 8, 1995 and she survives.
Also surviving are 2 step daughters, Mrs. Sandra (Steve) Walke of Marion, Ohio and Mrs. Brenda (Dennis) Ball of Howard, Ohio. Four Step Grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren also survive along with a sister Edna (Robert) Westerman of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Wayne was retired from the Clerk of Courts in Wyandot County and also he had worked for many years for the former Newman Pontiac in Upper Sandusky.
Wayne was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post #225, VFW Post #2842, Amvets Post #777, all of Upper Sandusky. He was a member of the Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM; McCutchen Chapter #96 RAM; Upper Sandusky Council #98 RSM, Zenobia Shrine of Toledo and DeMolay Commandery #36 of Tiffin.
Wayne also served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII and was a 1943 graduate of Eden High School.
For hobbies Wayne enjoyed golfing and working with his model trains.
Funeral Services for Wayne B. Traxler will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, February 28, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.
Visitations will be held on Monday, February 27, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with a Masonic Memorial Service taking place at 7:45pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity U.C.C. or Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
