Wanda B. Stecher

Wanda B. Stecher, age 79, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed
away Monday, October 12, 2009 at 3:55pm in Wyandot Memorial
Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

She was born on September 23, 1930 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Lowell C. and Mildred W. (Herschner) Vannatta, both of whom are
deceased. She married Jack L. Stecher on August 25, 1955 at the
1st. Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky and he died August 29, 1995.

Wanda is survived by a son, Scott D. and his wife Betsy, Stecher of Marblehead, Ohio, and a daughter Mindy J. and her husband, Steven Bowman of Upper Sandusky. Along with 2 grandchildren, Nathan and Kathryn Stecher.

She graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1948 and went on to Miami University for her bachelors degree in elementary education.

Wanda was a homemaker and also taught elementary education at
Marion City Schools, and in later years, she substituted in the Upper Sandusky Schools.

She was a member for over 70 years at the 1st. Presbyterian Church, where a former Sunday School teacher. Wanda was a former member of the Usando Literary Club. For hobbies, Wanda enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, walking with her dogs, reading, especially civil war history. She also enjoyed cooking, with some of her family favorites being her cookies, apple sauce and scalloped corn. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and follow them in their various activities.

A Memorial Service for Wanda B. Stecher will be held on Sunday, October 18, at 2:00pm at the 1st. Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Kenneth Wessler and Rev. Charles Steward officiating.

The family will receive friends after the service on Sunday at
the church.

Memorials may be made to the 1st Presbyterian Church, the Arthritis Foundation, or the Wyandot County Humane Society and may be sent to the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home at 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
