Walter Alan Zenowicz, 32, of Ohio, passed away on April 9, 2026.
Walter was born on March 25, 1994, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Heidi Alspach of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Jeffrey Zenowicz of Marblehead, Ohio. From the very beginning, he was a light—born with a heart of gold, an unforgettable smile, and a natural ability to make anyone feel like a friend. To know Walter was to love him. He had a rare gift: he didn’t just meet people, he connected with them. He left a lasting impression everywhere he went and carried an unconditional love that so many were lucky to experience.
Walter shared an inseparable bond with his brother, Jeffrey Zenowicz. From the start, their love ran deep, with their bright blue eyes and white-blonde hair, truly the most beautiful babies anyone had ever seen. He also loved his sister, Alissa Alspach, deeply.
Walter’s heart was forever shaped by the love of his sisters—Megan, Tricia, Liz, and Tiffany. They meant so much to him, and some of his most meaningful and unforgettable memories were made alongside them. Their time together was filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of moments he carried with him always.
Walter shared a deeply meaningful bond with his aunt, Tiffany. Through every stage of life, they were there for one another. Although he would say she saved him, she would say the same about him. Their love is one that will always remain.
Walter shared a special and irreplaceable bond with his nieces and nephews, who meant the world to him and lovingly knew him as their “Funcle.” He loved them fiercely and brought so much laughter, joy, and energy into their lives. Walter had a way of making every moment fun and memorable, and in his own way, he kept them on their toes—something only “Uncle Wal Wal” could do—and those memories will be cherished forever.
Walter loved his mother, Heidi, deeply. Their personalities often mirrored one another, but it was his ability to love unconditionally that truly defined him. He was incredibly forgiving, showing grace even when it wasn’t easy. That same compassion extended to everyone in his life—he saw the good in people and chose love again and again.
Walter was embraced wholeheartedly by Matt and Tracy Vanderpool and their daughters, who became family in every sense of the word. They took Walter in at a young age and gave him something truly life-changing—a steady, unconditional love and a place where he fully belonged. Through their home and their hearts, they helped shape his life in a lasting way. Walter felt that love deeply, and the role they played became an enduring and meaningful part of who he was.
Walter attended Upper Sandusky High School, where he was on the swim team and made countless friends. No matter where he went, he had a way of connecting with people and often left with more friendships than he arrived with. He also adored his dogs, Bane and Ghost, who brought him comfort, companionship, and so much joy.
Walter was a jack of many trades and embraced every opportunity that came his way. He wasn’t afraid to jump into anything, from cooking to factory work, hospitality to quality assurance. More than anything, he loved taking care of people—whether through his work or simply showing up for those around him. He especially enjoyed stepping into quality assurance, always ready to share how something could be done just a little better. It was part of his charm—he knew his worth and wasn’t afraid to show it.
Walter’s time here was far too short, but the life he lived was full of connection, laughter, and meaning. He left a smile and a memory with everyone he met, even along a journey that wasn’t always easy. We are heartbroken, but we are also incredibly grateful for the love he gave so freely.
We take comfort in knowing this life is only temporary and hold onto the hope of seeing him again. Only the most special angels go to heaven early, and to know Walter was to truly understand just how special he was.
Walter is survived by his parents: Heidi Hook (John) Alspach; and Jeffrey Zenowicz; Matt and Tracy Vanderpool; grandparents: Pat Blankenship, Myra Zenowicz, Adelina Zenowicz; aunts: Emily, Tiffany, Kelly (Jim) Miller, Betty Jo Allen; siblings: JJ Zenowicz, Alissa Alspach, Tricia (Todd) Karg, Tiffany Kost, Liz (Jay) Saxton, Megan (Evric) Little, Janet Crum, Amanda Michel and Mackenzie Dunn; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at 3:00 pm, April 26, 2026, at Camp Trinity, 8812 County Highway 50, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351, with Pastor Steve Sturgeon officiating, with a time of fellowship to be held after the service.
