Virginia F. Heckathorn

Virginia F. Heckathorn, age 86, of St. Hwy. 67 of Forest, Ohio died Monday, January 07, 2008 at 4:45 a.m. at her residence.

She was born October 6, 1921 in Jackson Township, Wyandot County to Karl and Nellie (Baker) Rickenbacher, both of whom are deceased.

Virginia married Warren B. Heckathorn on June 1, 1941 in Marseilles, Ohio and he died on April 11, 1991.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Barbara Ann and her husband Evan Stewart of LaRue, Ohio and Patricia and her husband Timothy Wood of Forest.

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Melissa Hoffman of Fremont, Todd Stewart of Wharton, Nikki Stewart of Forest, Laura Wood of Forest, and John Wood of Purdue University. 6 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. 1 brother Robert Rickenbacher of Forest and 1 sister, Mary Forney of Westerville also survive.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Warren, along with a brother Harold, and a sister Gertrude Price.

Virginia was a homemaker and helped her husband with the family farm. She was a long time member of the Marseilles Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, served as treasurer of the Women's Association, and helped out for many years in the kitchen for many church activities. She was a former member of the Homemaker's Club of Hardin County and of Wyandot County Farm Bureau. She was a 1939 graduate of Forest High School.

For hobbies she enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, crocheting, flower gardening and raising violets, and reading. She was also an avid Ohio State fan.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. The Rev. Rex Roth will be officiating. Burial will be in Tymochtee Cemetery in Marseilles Township.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lucas-Batton funeral home and 1 hour before service time on Thursday.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice Wyandot Council on Aging, or Marseilles Presbyterian Church and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
