Virginia R. "Ginny" Swihart, age 85, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 5:49am in Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Ginny was born on November 21, 1930 in Seneca County, Ohio to Fannie Irene (Corfman) Albert, who is deceased. She married Charles E. Swihart on June 8, 1961 and he survives.
She is survived by 4 children, Patricia (Robert) Burns of Columbus, Rev. Dan (Irene) Bosler of Fenton, Michigan, Barbara Swihart of Eastlake, Ohio, and Kevin Charles (Tina) Swihart of Nevada. 10 grandchildren: Michael Burns, James Burns; Nate Bosler, Zachary Bosler, and Ariel (Chris) Ferguson; Stephen Swihart, Anthony Schuster, Jordan Schuster, Kahle Swihart, and Channing Swihart. She is also survived by a brother, Donald (Lois) Albert of Bucyrus.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Robert, Richard, Dale and a brother who was stillborn, and sisters, Blanche, Margaret "Peg", Irene, Helen and Betty Jean.
Ginny graduated from McCutchenville High School in 1948 and went on to work at GE in Carey, Swann Rubber in Bucyrus, and Westinghouse-A.O. Smith in Upper Sandusky. She then went on to receive her real estate license, and was an agent for Anna Patchett Realty for many years.
She was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, and was a member and past president of the Nevada Lioness Club.
For hobbies, Ginny enjoyed painting ceramic Santa Clauses and Teddy Bears, which she both collected and gave away, vegetable and flower gardening, traveling throughout the United States with her family, playing cards, and watching John Wayne movies. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed decorating her home for the season.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, and her love for her entire family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Visitations will be on Monday, December 7, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time, at the church on Tuesday.
Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, with Pastors Brian Arnold and Dan Bosler officiating.
Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.
