Virgil L. "Bud" Montgomery, age 74, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 7:05pm at Fairhaven Community - North Campus in Upper Sandusky.
Virgil was born on October 31, 1933 to Lawrence and Ethel (Kibbey) Montgomery in Greenup, KY. On October 28, 1953 he married MaeBelle Rowland in Greenup, KY and she died January 5, 2007.
He is survived by one daughter: Ann and her husband Bob Brewer of Little Sandusky, Ohio, two sons: Howard "Buddy" and his wife Anita Montgomery of Findlay, Ohio, and Keith and his wife Robin Montgomery of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, five grandchildren: Tisha Brewer, Kendal Montgomery, Keith Montgomery Jr., Chasity Moore, Alicia Montgomery. Virgil is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Chancelor Montgomery, Lane Montgomery, Landon Montgomery, Annabelle Moore and Brook Montgomery.
Virgil has 5 brothers living: George Montgomery of Galion, Hal Montgomery of Carey, Watts Montgomery of McDermott, OH., Bob Montgomery of Columbus, GA, Bill Montgomery of South Shore, KY.. 4 Sisters also survive: Eula Durbin of Benton, KY, Mattie of Newberry of South Shore, KY, Judy Montgomery of South Shore and Brenda Darnell of Ashland, KY.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Brewer and 3 brothers, Alva Sutton, Tom Montgomery and Raymond Montgomery and a sister Maxine Potter.
Virgil retired from National Lime & Stone in Carey after 18 years. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post #2842 in Upper Sandusky. He was a member of the Marseilles Lodge #515 F&AM where he was a past master, Crawford Chapt. #168 RAM where he served as past high priest.
Member of Upper Sandusky Council #98 RSM, where he served as Past Illustrious Master, DeMolay Commandery #9 Tiffin, Scotish Rite Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Temple of the Shrine, Warpole Chapt. #366 where he served as past materon and Knights of the Pythians #178 in Nevada.
For hobbies he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing euchre, bowling and for many years you could find him working in the DeMolay booth at the Wyandot County Fair.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with a Masonic Memorial Service to be held at 5:45pm.
