Verta J. Tackett

Verta J. Tackett, age 86, of Marion, Ohio, and formerly of Iuka, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Marion General Hospital.

Verta was born on August 26, 1937 in Oak Hill, Ohio, to John and Rosa (Hurd) Pelfrey.

Verta was preceded in death by her parents John and Rosa (Hurd) Pelfrey, husbands, Marvin Cline Jr and Cameron Tackett, her son Donald L Cline, a sister Virginia, and 4 brothers, Otis, Earl, David,  and Charles Pelfrey.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Patty (Jerry) Copley of Marion, Glynis (Eldon) Nelson of Corinth, MS., and Gena (Chuck) Garrison of Upper Sandusky. 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and worked for many years at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Verta was a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Carey.

For hobbies, Verta enjoyed playing card games, scrabble, and spending time on her iPad, to keep in touch with family and friends through the internet.

She will be remembered for her love for Jesus, and for all of her family. Verta will be dearly missed.

Funeral services for Verta J. Tackett will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Brother Frank Young officiating.  Burial will follow at Little Sandusky Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, February 20, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home.
