Verna Lee Angel

Verna Lee Angel, age 82, of rural Nevada, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 09, 2011 at 1:30am at Heartland of Bucyrus.

Verna was born on August 21, 1929 in Ironton, Ohio to Frank and Olive (Cable) Jones both of whom are deceased. She was once married to Preston Eugene Hurst and he is deceased.

Surviving Verna are two sons Ronald (Bertie) Hurst of Bucyrus, Ohio and Robert (June) Hurst of Nevada, along with three grandchildren, Doug Hurst, Christy Lee Swinehart and Angela Haldaman and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Jack A. Jones of Eaton, Georgia, and a sister Marcella Myers of Loudonville, Ohio

Verna was preceded in death by a daughter Lois Elaine Swinehart, a grandson Randy Hurst, a brother Clifford Jones, and two sisters Erma Jones and Mildred Bryant.

Verna graduated from Hanging Rock high School in 1946 and then went on to Portsmouth Beauty College which she graduated from in 1947.

Verna started her business Special Moments Bridal Shop which she owned and operated in Nevada and later moved her store to Bucyrus where she operated it for many years. Before that she worked at Swan Rubber in Bucyrus for 10 years.

Verna attended Nevada Methodist Church and was a former member of Nevada Eastern Star and for hobbies she enjoyed sewing and reading.

Funeral services for Verna L. Angel will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Chelsea Spencer officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Nevada Cemetery in Nevada.

Visitations will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
