Velma Jean Kissling, age 92, of Bucyrus, Ohio, went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Sunday, February 1, 2026, with her family by her side at her home in Bucyrus.

Velma was born on January 19, 1934, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Ora and Ione (Ebert) Wilson, both of whom are deceased. She married Gerold M. "Max" Kissling on August 2, 1953, and he passed away on November 13, 2009.

She is survived by a son, Gerold M. "Jerry" (Bonnie) Kissling, Jr. of Maple Rapids, Michigan, and five daughters: Deborah J. Ransom of Galion, Ohio; Cheryl A.(Steve) Laplander of Perrinton, Michigan; Kay (Roy) Kresge of St. Johns, Michigan; Karen L (Jerry) Keranen of Bucyrus; and Kathy S. (Tim) Stenson of Bucyrus. 25 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren also survive.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max, a brother, James Wilson, and sisters, Florence Swisher, Margaret Lutz, and Grace Cramer, and a son-in-law, Roger Ransom.

Velma was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Zion High School and a member for over 50 years of Wayside Chapel in Bucyrus, where she served the church on the Missions Committee, taught Bible study, and played the piano and organ for services. She was also active at one time with Bible Study Fellowship in Marion.

Music, gardening, bird-watching, reading, and crossword puzzles were among her interests.

She will be remembered for her love of her children and grandchildren, and her deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral services for Velma Jean Kissling will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Wayside Chapel with Pastors Jerrill Wyler, Jerry Kissling, and Ryan Kresge officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Friday, February 6, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wayside Chapel, and 1 hour before the service on Saturday.
