Tommy E. Sayre, age 67, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Marion, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
He was born of August 6, 1944 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Garnett and Lavetta (Miller) Sarye, both of whom are deceased.
Tommy was first married to Virginia Haner and they were divorced. He then married Constance L. "Connie" Sayre November 21, 1986 in Meeker, Ohio and she died on January 12, 2011
Surviving are their children, Grant (Angee) Sayre of LaRue, Shelley (Dave Morris) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Vicky (Marvin) Hamm of Upper Sandusky, and Ginger (Brian) Bryant of Upper Sandusky, James McMichael of Bucyrus and Tony Whitlow and his partner Steven Meade of Westerville. Also surviving are the following grandchildren, Wesley (April) Sayre of LaRue, Jessica( Katelyn Lyons) Sayre of Marion, , Cassie (Kasey Stayner) Sayre of Marion, Brianna Sayre of LaRue, Joey (Tara) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Erica (Coty) Decker of Upper Sandusky, Derek Shepherd of Upper Sandusky and Kyle Bryant of Upper Sandusky, Tyler Whitlow of Phoenix, Arizona, Jon Hamm and Chelsea Hamm of Green Camp and Nate McHenry and Lexi McHenry of Marion along with 3 great grandchildren, Lucas, Gage and Dalton Thiel. .
Tommy is also survived by 4 brothers, Dennis (Carmie) Sayre of Harpster, Roger Sayre of Marion, Robert (Ruth) Sayre of Kenton and William (Rose) Sayre of Marion and with 3 sisters, Shirley Lamb of Tiffin, Candice Luikart, of Upper Sandusky and Nyla Jo (Larry) Brunty of Morral.
Tommy was retired from Sypris Solutions in Marion and before that he had worked at Don Young in Upper Sandusky and then Rockwell in Kenton.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1093 in Upper Sandusky and the NRA. For hobbies he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, camping and playing cards. He also enjoyed listening to blue grass and country music and playing his harmonica and he enjoyed his 2 dogs, "Baby' and " Bugger ".
Funeral services for Tommy E. Sayre will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, June 13 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, from 3-5PM and 7-9PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and or The American Lung Association or Wyandot County Humane Society and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
