Thomas E Book, 67, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, died on Tuesday, Jan 20, 2015 at 9:20 AM, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, in Upper Sandusky, surrounded by his family after a brave fight with leukemia.

He was born in Marion, Ohio, on July 15, 1947 to Robert and Rita (Stief) Book, both of whom are deceased.

Surviving are brothers Dale, of Sycamore; Charles (Laura), Gary (Stephanie), Jack (Beth) all of Upper Sandusky, Donald (Pam) of Nevada. Sisters Barbara (Duane) Ruth, Nevada, Diane Elchert and Sharon (Richard) Kindle of Upper Sandusky, along with 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry.

Tom was retired from Guardian Industries in Upper Sandusky in 2005 after 30 years of service.

Tom served in the Air Force from 1966-1970 stationed in California, Oklahoma, and Naha AB in Okinawa. He was an original member of the 1974 Wyandot County EMS. For several years in the 1970's he coached girl's slow pitch in Upper Sandusky. He was a 4-H advisor from 1976-1983 and a member of the Putter's of America Assoc from 79 - 87, and was currently serving on the Salvation Army Board in Upper Sandusky. His greatest joy was being an OSU gate usher (Gate 11B) at home OSU games from 1983-1999.

An avid and faithful follower of his nieces, nephews, and friends, he spent numerous years following all their sporting activities and meeting new friends along the way.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky.

The funeral will be at 11 am Friday at Trinity Evangelical U.M.C. in Upper Sandusky with Rev.James Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, January 22, from 4-8 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and 1 hour before service time at the church on Friday. As a tribute to Tom, who was a sports enthusiast, the family asks you to sport your favorite team attire during visitation.
