Terry L. Messmer

Terry L. Messmer, age 61, of Upper Sandusky, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021, at his home in Upper Sandusky.

Terry was born on March 24, 1959, in Upper Sandusky, to Richard and May (Briggs) Messmer. Terry was married to Doris Searls on December 28, 1985, at Fairhaven Chapel in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

Terry is also survived by his son Keith Messmer of Upper Sandusky, his mother May Messmer of Upper Sandusky, two sisters: Linda (Deb Kin) Simmons and Cynthia (Tom) Shumaker, both of Upper Sandusky, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by his father Richard Messmer.

Terry graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1977 and went on to work at Chief Dairy for several years, Unigrip for over 5 years, and then delivered the newspaper for The Daily Chief Union for over 35 years.

Terry was a member of AMVETS post #777, Eagles Lodge #2184, Moose Lodge #1093 all of Upper Sandusky, and he was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge #4551 in Culpeper, Virginia.

Terry loved to go bowling and he was on the Loose Furniture team in the Friday night bowling league at Wyandot Lanes in Upper Sandusky and also bowled in the travel league every other Sunday. He was an avid Detroit Tiger's fan, Cleveland Browns fan, and a big OSU fan. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards with his son Keith and going to garage sales and flea markets.

A funeral service for Terry Messmer will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Rev. Lynn Passet. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.

Visitations will be held from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.

The family of Terry Messmer requests that those in attendance show their team spirit by wearing the jersey of their favorite team.
