Ted E. Caldwell

Ted E. Caldwell, age 63, of Nevada, Ohio died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 2:00am at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on April 26, 1945 to Keith E. & Louise (Moor) Caldwell in Bucyrus, Ohio, both of whom are deceased. He married Maureen Duffner on June 18, 1966 in Nevada Lutheran Church and she survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Barry and his wife Kim, Caldwell of Pataskala and Brian and his wife Amie Caldwell of Bucyrus and 1 daughter, Amy and her husband Doug, Shatzer of Tiro.

Ted is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Wyatt Caldwell, Martin Caldwell, Lanny Caldwell, Saulee Shatzer and Seth Shatzer. Along with a step sister, Emily Swihart and sister in law, Christa Caldwell. Along with many brother and sister in laws and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a child in infancy and a brother Gary Caldwell.

Ted retired in 2006 as a tool grinder for Bucyrus Blades after 43 years. He was a former member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the first EMT in Nevada. Ted graduated from Nevada High School in 1963 with his class being the last to graduate from Nevada.

For hobbies Ted loved tinkering, fishing with his grandkids, playing cards at the former Dave's Place, drinking coffee with friends at Cruiser's, following the Buckeye's and spending time with his wife and family.


Funeral Services for Ted E. Caldwell will be held at 11:00am Friday, May 2 at the Nevada United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brandon Keck officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery.

Friend may call at the Nevada Methodist Church on Thursday when the family will receive family and friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and 1 hour before service time on Friday.
