Stephen "Steve" J. Spengler

Stephen "Steve" J. Spengler, age 43, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in Sunbury, Ohio.

Steve was born on April 30, 1981, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Scott Spengler and Sheila Gabriel-Spengler.

Steve is survived by his 2 sons, Bryce and Blake Spengler, their mother Gwen (Mark) Dovell and their children Caleb and Hudson Dovell. Steve is also survived by his father Scott (Sharon Roush) Spengler of Nevada, mother Sheila (Dave Conti) Gabriel-Spengler of Bucyrus, brother Brian (Jenn) Cox of Upper Sandusky, and their children, Brodie Cox, Tyler and Avery Burks, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Elaine Spengler, and his maternal grandparents Gerald and Alice Gabriel.

Steve attended Holy Trinity School from 1st through 8th grade, and then graduated from Wynford High School in 1999, and went on to attend Otterbein University where he played baseball, and then transferred to Columbus State University and then to The Ohio State University where he graduated from with his Bachelor's degree.

Steve loved spending time with his sons, and loved to coach their baseball, football, and basketball teams over the years. He loved sports and was a big supporter of the Buckeye Valley School Athletics. Steve was a good father, friend, and a great coach who will be dearly missed by many.

A private graveside will be held at Nevada Cemetery.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Homestead of Radnor located at 2866 OH-203, Radnor, OH 43066.

Another celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Nevada Park, in Nevada, Ohio.
